Please read this request to consider helping me support finding a cure for brain cancer by donating to “Keep Punching”.

Believe it or not, I have signed up for the Keep Punching Virtual 1 Mile Walk on Oct 12, 2020. As I’m not a “big” exerciser, I chose to do the 1 mile walk rather than the 5K run (3.1 miles).

Why am I doing this... my wife, Donna Bay’s cousins have been doing this for several years in memory of Pete Vigna, an in-law who died of brain cancer too young. He was a remarkable young man. The family started “For Pete’s Sake” while he struggled with his cancer. He attended every event he could while battling the disease, hoping for remission.

Besides Pete, Donna’s younger sister, Cindy, battled brain cancer for over a year. She was diagnosed the day after her son was married. Donna became her care giver. Donna and I would take her to Duke University after the University of Maryland, a medical teaching school and hospital, performed surgery and radiation and didn’t anything else to offer. Duke University has The Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center where Dr. Friedman’s (Edward Kennedy’s brain cancer doctor) Team saw and treated her for over a year. Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is the most aggressive type of cancer that begins in the brain. As heartbreaking as it was to watch Cindy go through surgery, followed by radiation, followed by chemotherapy Cindy was never seen without a smile and kindness.

I am not only doing this walk for Pete and Cindy, but for so many others who have had to go through this, their caregivers, families, and their friends. Not only does a cure need to be found, but funding is needed to support patients, healthcare providers, and researchers in their fight to prevent and eradicate brain cancer and minimize treatment-related side effects that that may adversely impact function and comfort.

If you can donate, please do so “For Pete’s Sake”, the team I will “virtually” be walking with.

Just a small donation will go a long way to helping me meet my goal for KEEP PUNCHING.

Thank you.
