Glenn Hirsch is an avid bicyclist and a retired physician who has combined a lifelong passion for cycling with a deep commitment to supporting organizations that fund medical research and provide aid to patients. Over the past 35 years, he has participated in numerous organized charity rides, raising money for the Multiple Sclerosis Society, the American Lung Association—including a cross-country ride in 2000—the Arthritis Foundation (California Coast Classic in 2004), and the American Diabetes Association.

Independently, he rode the East Coast Greenway, a route stretching from Key West, Florida, to the Canadian border in Maine in several trips from 2009 - 2013 prior to finishing his bicycle journey around the perimeter of the US in 2017. He dedicated that ride to a foundation started in memory of his nephew Ian who died at age 12 after a battle with leukemia. Thanks to the generosity of many, he was able to raise over $100,000 toward funding research to find gentler treatment for childhood cancers.

Now, Glenn is ready for a new challenge. Next month, he plans to complete a 440-mile ride along the Natchez Trace, a historic route that follows an old Native American path connecting Natchez, Mississippi with Nashville, Tennessee. This time, the ride will benefit Keep Punching, a charity that supports brain cancer patients and their caregivers, as well as healthcare providers and researchers, in their fight to prevent and defeat brain cancer. The cause is deeply personal, as his son-in-law, Shahak Nagiel, was diagnosed with and later succumbed to glioblastoma. Shahak and his family became involved with Keep Punching, and his daughter Jill now serves on its board.

The ride is scheduled to begin on November 9th, with the goal of completing the journey within a week.
